Beach Flag Warning System

Updated: Jan 25

Beach Flag Warning System

The beach flag warning system is a simple but crucial tool to help beachgoers understand current water conditions. Flags are posted at every public beach access point along 30A, and each color represents a specific level of caution. Here’s a breakdown:

Green Flag: Calm conditions. Enjoy the water, but always stay aware.

Yellow Flag: Moderate surf or currents. Exercise caution, especially with children.

Red Flag: High surf or strong currents. Stay on the shore; swimming is strongly discouraged.

Double Red Flag: The water is closed to the public due to dangerous conditions.

Purple Flag: Marine pests such as jellyfish or stingrays are present. Be alert and prepared.

Tip: Always check the flag status before heading out. You can find updates on local beach safety websites or by looking for the flags at public beach accesses.
